2010 Blazer Stakes Early Preview

August 31st, 2010

The $200,000 Group Two Blazer Stakes (1400m) will take to the Flemington Racecourse as part of the Turnbull Stakes Day, a feature of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

Scheduled to jump on October 2, the Blazer Stakes – commonly referred to as the Rose Of Kingston Stakes – will see handy mares form the final field.

One female being targeted for the 2010 Blazer Stakes jump is Katie Lee. The Graeme Rogerson mare was scratched from the Mudgway Stakes due to the wet track, and will head to Melbourne for spring racing.

The Pins four-year-old could fare well in the Blazer Stakes and use it as a lead up to the bigger spring features, namely the 2010 Cox Plate.

The Group Two WH Stocks Stakes (1600m) can be a good one for punters to watch prior to the Blazer Stakes jump. Many handy females head from the Stocks Stakes – which will run on September 11 at Moonee Valley – to do well in the Blazer.

Also forming the bumper card at Flemington on October 2 will be the $500,000 Group One Turnbull Stakes (2000m), the Group Two Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) and the Group Two Gilgai Stakes (1200m).
