2010 Blazer Stakes Nominations

September 28th, 2010

A rescheduling of Flemington’s Turnbull Stakes meeting due to the AFL Grand Final rematch will see the esteemed Victorian track come alive this Sunday with the running of a number of Group features including the $200,000 Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m).

Previously called the Kingston Town Stakes and providing one of the best Sportsbet markets, the 2010 Blazer Stakes has attracted a large number of early entries with 30 mares nominated.

The star studded list of Blazer Stakes nominees is topped by quality mares that are sure to dominate the odds including Let’s Elope Stakes winner No Evidence Needed trained by John Thompson and third placegetter Live In Sin.

Live In Sin is one of three entries from Peter Moody who has also nominated his last start winning Anabaa grey Avenue and Returntosender.

Other notable entries for Sunday’s Blazer Stakes include Stocks Stakes placegetter Lady Lynette and Grahame Begg’s Encosta De Lago mare Palacio De Cristal.

Five-year-old Palacio De Cristal will be resuming racing in her first up spring run, heading towards the Emirates Stakes at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The 2010 Blazer Stakes has a field limit of 16 mares plus four emergencies, the entries to be narrowed down with the acceptances later in the week, which will be published here so bookmark this page.

In a bumper day of racing, other highlights of the Melbourne Cup Preview day at Flemington this Sunday include the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) where stars including Dariana, Shocking, Faint Perfume and Typhoon Tracy have been nominated, and the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m).
